Oh hey there! Here are a few songs from our set at Inside the Gates last month. We will be back there again on February 15th, so be sure to come get funky with us! In the meantime, if you dig the tunes, please share them with a friend or two!
Holy funky meatballs! We had a BLAST playing last week. We got to open up for Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band at The Orpheum in Ybor, which was awesome. Then the next night we brought the funk to Dunedin Brewery and played a few sets of Serotonic-y jammy jams. And then we wrapped up our week by playing a set at Inside the Gates. This was a fantastic gig, and it’s a really unique venue in St. Pete. If you are down with the “festival” atmosphere, great beer, great food, great people, and most importantly, great music, you need to check this place out!
2013 should be a great year for Serotonic! We will be playing all of our regular spots, and some new ones – including a set at Orange Blossom Jamboree! Be sure to check out our calendar for all of our gigs!
Here’s a video of us playing “4 on 6″ at ITG last weekend (thanks to Adam Lucas for the video). See all you funky people in 2013!
Check out this awesome video we have from Rock the Park last month! This tune is one of our originals called “My Downstairs Mixup.” Dig it!
Here we are at a recent practice, going through our newest cover: “Steppin” by Soulive! Enjoy!
Exciting news! We headed over to Casa de Sanger last weekend to record the most current versions of our original tunes. It was a really productive afternoon and we got a bunch of great material recorded…can’t wait to share it with you all! So stay tuned for updates on that! Here are a couple pics that Andrew snapped just before we started.
Check out Serotonic getting super funky on this Soulive tune at Gaspar’s Grotto – 4/28/2012
Ladies and gentlemen… our very first writeup!
Thanks to the good guys at TBT, we made the spotlight on this year’s TBT’s 2011 Ultimate Local Artists. Here’s an excerpt of the writeup in case you can’t read it:
“In 2009, tbt* voters crowned a Latin rock trio called Triptico as Tampa Bay’s Ultimate Local Band.
Today singer-bassist Gabriel Valdivia fronts a jam-jazz-funk outfit called Serotonic. Influenced by bands like Galactic and Soulive, the group (which also includes Andrew Kilmartin on drums and Bryan Lewis on keys, plus various guests and friends) focuses “on the New Orleans jazz/funk style of music that relies heavily on improvisation,” Valdivia said.”
For the complete list and the Top 10, visit the Soundcheck blog and vote for your favorite. Help support Tampa’s local music scene!
Hey everyone,
A big shout out to our buddy Matt Shumway for hooking us up with MI Net Radio. What is MI Net Radio, you ask? Here’s a little introductory paragraph from the site:
Waking up one morning to the annoying sound of his alarm clock radio blasting the tunes of Nickelback Matt (founder of M.I. Radio) had drawn his last straw! Vowing to seek out and gather music from across the globe (starting in the states because of money issues) the mission has started. So lube your eardrums, crank the speakers and get ready for the new groove of music.
So, tune in to www.minetradio.com to listen to Serotonic and other great independent bands.
DO IT!!
